"A" is For Alibi by Sue Grafton

I liked this line - she is talking about taking her daily run, "For my bravery, I netted a few a few rude remarks from two guys in a pickup truck" haha! I knw what that is like pg. 127

This is the first in a mystery series. I have had this series on my shelf forever and never read it. I'm glad I did.

Kinsey Millhone is a PI, she is approached by Nikki Fife. Nikki recently got out of jail, served 8 years for killing her husband, only Nikki says she didn't do it. She hires Kinsey to find the real killer.

Kinsey starts to interview people, even going to Las Vegas to interview one lady, only before she can talk to her, she is murdered. Then when Kinsey goes to another person's house, she finds that there has been a break-in. Kinsey knows these are all related - but if only she could prove it.

Finally Kinsey knows who killed the husband, but did that same person kill 2 other people who seem to be tied into this mess?

I don't know why I put off this book/series for so long. I really enjoyed this one and of course plan to read the rest, especially since I already have them. haha! Kinsey was very funny, she would say things that caught me off guard and made me laugh.

That sounds like a really good series. I have wanted to read it just don't have the shelf space for everything.

I envy you a little being new to the world of Kinsey Milhone. Grafton writes very slowly, so it feels like I'm always waiting for her to finish the next one. What I like best about the books is the relationships that Kinsey forms, they are always so interesting.

Enjoy!

I just read this book last month and really enjoyed it. Like you, I've got the whole series to look forward to. Grafton has made Kinsey such a "real" character.
