The Shop on Blossom Street By Debbie Macomber

This is my second by this author, the first was a Christmas book. I really liked this one and already have the second in the series - so you'll be seeing more of this author reviewed on this blog.
Lyda has had cancer twice, and she is only 30. She knows there is a good possibility it will come back and decides to take life in her own hands and opens up a knitting store. She loves to knit and couldn't imagine doing anything else with her life. She posts a sign for a beginner's class and soon three very different women join the class. This book is about all 4 women, how they come from different area's of life but how they all change and become friends.
Alix - in her 20's - rough, doesnt have much money, been living on her own/streets since she was 16, horrible family life, dreams of being a chef.
Jacqueline - society lady, doesn't approve of her daughter-in-law, marriage falling apart, doesn't get along with Alix
Carol - wants to be a mother, has gone through 2 in-vitro attemps and is getting ready for a 3rd.
I admit that I had figured out what was going to happen in this book...but that didn't ruin it for me. I really liked it. When I was about half-way through I felt like I was reading about old friends. It's the same way I feel when I read one of the Joanne Fluke books. I can't wait to read the second in the series - that will probably happen in February or March.
(this was book was 395 pages long - almost a chunkster and I probably would count it towards the chunkster challenge - except it read very fast and I never once was intimidated by the size. lol!)

I really enjoyed both of the books in the series. They are fast, easy, comfort reads. You may also like her Cedar Cove series, where I believe the first in the series is 16 Lighthouse Road.
