Edge of Evil By J.A. Jance

Ali is a news anchor for a station in LA. One day she is getting ready to go home after doing the news when her boss finds her and tells her she is fired. His reason - because she is too old (she's only in her 40's). Ali goes home to find that her husband Paul, is already home. She is surprised by this since he normally works late, until she realizes that he is an important person with the network and must have already known -but didn't tell her. She mentions that she might sue the network for age/sex discrimination and he walks out. To make matters worse...she soon receives word from her parents, who live in Arizona, that her best friend has disappeared. To help her deal with the loss of her job and fear for her friend, her 22 year old son, Chris, creates a blog for her. She starts to talk about everything and is amazed at the amount of people who respond. Ali then learns that her friend was found dead, it appears she committed suicide after learning she has ALS. Ali and her son drive to Arizona to be with family and friends during this time. Ali knows in her heart that her friend did not commit suicide, but has trouble convincing the police. Then, when discussions on her blog turn to women leaving abusive husbands, Ali is threatened by a man who's wife left him after reading her blog. Now Ali needs to watch out for herself...while at the same time trying to find out what really happened to her friend.
This is the first in a new mystery series by the author. I have read the other 2 series by this author and wasn't disapointed with this one either. I plan to read the second in the series which came out last month. One of the things I thought was fun about this book was that Ali writes in a blog and becomes a blogger - and here I am blogging about the book. lol! (Really - it's the little things in life that keep me going. haha!)

It sounds really good but I have enough series going on. :)

I enjoyed Edge of Evil also. It was chalk full of action. I'll have to wait for the newest book to come out in paperback before I read it though.
