The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult

This is a novel about one family and how they deal with an affair and a rape. Daniel and Laura only have one child - Trixie. Daniel works from how drawing for comics and Laura is a professor at a local University. Trixie was recently dumped by her boyfriend and she wants him back. Her friend decides to throw a party and tells Trixie what to do in order to get him back, she must make him jelouse. So Trixie is drinking a lot, flirting with other boys, but so far it's not working. Then everyone leaves except for Trixie, her friend, her ex-boyfriend and his friend. Trixie suggests they play strip poker even though she isn't comfortable with it but hoping to get her ex back. Then....the next thing we know Trixie is back home and claims to have been raped. Daniel rushes her to the hospital but is unable to get hold of Laura - even though it is early in the morning. Daniel realizes what he had suspected was true - Laura was having an affiar.
This is a wonderful story on how the family deals with their daughter saying she was raped but the facts don't line up and she did lie about a couple things. This is how the family deals with living in a small town and having everyone hate them because nobody belives the star hockey player would do such a thing. Daniel and Laura also have to deal with the affair.
There is so much more in this story than I mentioned - but I don't want to give everything away. I think this was a very powerful book. I think she brings up topics that a lot of people don't want to think about but at the same time it is something that happens all the time. In fact, this morning on the news there was a story about a lady in my area being raped last night. This is the second book I have read by the author..I loved them both. I thought they were both very powerful books that make the reader think.

A reader can always count of Jodi Picoult to write a thought provoking book. I have yet to read this one and was glad to see your review. I definitely plan to get to this one in the next few months!
