Killer Weekend by Ridley Pearson

This is the first in a new series by the author.

Walt Flemming is the sheriff for Sun Valley, Idaho. Eight years ago he saved the Attorney General, Liz Shaler and now it looks like that might happen again. Liz is in town for a conference and the rumor is that she is going to announce her candidacy for president. The secret service is also in town to protect Liz. They have received one threat and the secret service don't really think it is valid however Walt does. Mix into this the fact that there is a cougar attacking people and animals, and another women is found dead. It appears to be an accident but the more Walt looks into it, the more it looks like murder.

The story itself was wonderful. I had a hard time putting this book down. I thought it was fast paced and kept my interest. I love the way the book was set up. There were several chapters, many of them only about 2-4 pages long. This worked well because each chapter was from a different persons view. Sometimes the chapter was about Walt and what he was finding/doing. Sometimes it was about the hired hit man who's plan is to kill Liz. Sometimes it was other characters in the story. There was more than one thing going on in this book and I couldn't wait to get to the end to see how everything came together. Great book and I hope to see more in this series.
