 Simple description:

I took the following from the Author's website:

For years, Kenneth C. Davis has enlightened and enthralled us, opening our minds and tickling our fancies with his wonderfully irreverent, fun, and factual Don't Know Much About® books. He has carried readers on wild and edifying rides through history, mythology, geography, the Bible, the Civil War, even across the universe. Now, following on the heels of his triumphant New York Times bestseller Don't Know Much About® Anything, comes Don't Know Much About® Anything Else, his latest one-stop potpourri of intriguing information. Chock-full of delightful historical snippets and fascinating people, remarkable milestones and boneheaded blunders, and eye-opening, brain-boggling facts about simply anything and everything in the world, here is the ideal companion for those long car rides, plane flights, quality family hours, or relaxing downtime

Why did I read this book?

I thought it would be fun. I like books that give you little interesting tidbits about stuff.

About the book:

Basically, the author takes different subjects and gives you a brief description about it and then asks several questions. The answers are on the reverse page. Sometimes they are true/false questions, other times they aren't. The subjects range from sports to entertainment, to flight, to teeth, to our presidents, etc.

What I liked most:

That it was fun. I admit to know knowing a whole bunch and I couldn't answer very many questions (I think I did the best with the Andrew Lloyd Webber questions). So it was fun to read the different facts. Will I remember everything, no. Will I remember some stuff? You bet!

I also thought it was fun to do this with my husband. He hates to read yet he thought this book was fun. In fact, yesterday while eating lunch (mind you I was trying to study) he says "So when are you going to ask me more questions from your book?" I happily got up to get the book and quizzed him for a bit. Then later on I was making bread and he picked up the book and started asking me questions. We really did have a lot of fun with this one. It amazed me how much he knew! Not that I think he is dumb, they are just off-the-wall questions (if you ask me).

Was there something I didn't like?

I wish there had been more questions about some of the stuff….but I know the author has more books so I'll probably end up reading them.

Do I recommend the book?

I do! I think anybody who likes history and odd facts would get a kick out of this one. I know it sounds corny when the info from the author's website mentions it can be used for quality family hours, but it's true! Normally I'll read and the Husband watches tv, but we actually went through this book and laughed and had fun together.

My husband and I are reading this one the same way. It's fun, but I find that some of the questions are worded very awkwardly. I still like doing it, but I wish it were better edited.

Lisa - I agree, some of the questions are worded awkwardly, I forgot about that. There were several that I had to read at least twice before we totally got it.
