War Through the Generations

I've decided to do this challenge instead of the Civil War challenge. While I am interested in the Civil War, WWII holds a bigger interest for me and there are a lot more books I want to read that fall under this challenge.  Maybe I'll do a Civil War one another time.

War Through the Generations is being hosted by Anna and Serena

Info about the challenge:
Rules:

To participate in the WWII Reading Challenge, you must commit to readingat least five books throughout the year.  We plan to read more than that, and feel free to do the same!  The books can be fiction or non-fiction, and they can be about any aspect of WWII.  WWII should be the primary or secondary theme, and it doesn’t matter whether the book takes place during the war or after the war.   Children’s literature is acceptable!  (Please visit the WWII Reading List page for some recommendations.)  You can count books you are reading for other challenges, so long as they meet the aforementioned criteria.

You can decide which books you’d like to read right away, or you can choose them during the course of the challenge.  However, when you sign up, we ask that you set a reading goal for the challenge.  At the end of the challenge, those who met or exceeded their reading goals will be entered in a drawing (prizes to be announced later).

**Participants anywhere in the world are eligible for the drawing!**

How to sign up:

If you have a blog, please write about the challenge and your reading goal.  Come back to this page and leave a comment with the link to your post.

If you don’t have a blog, please leave a comment on this page with your reading goal.

Everyone who signs up will be listed on the WWII Challenge Participantspage.

Sign ups will be ongoing, but the deadline to submit a reading goal and be entered to win prizes at the end of the challenge is January 31, 2009.

My Goal:
5 books, which I will list as I go.

I am really looking forward to this one! I'm especially drawn to this time in history and have a ton of books that would be perfect for this challenge. I only committed to five though. Hopefully I'll be able to read more.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you end up reading!

Thanks so much for signing up for our challenge. I've added you to the participants page. We'll be hosting challenges on other wars in the future; I'm sure we'll get to the Civil War, though I'd love to keep the WWII challenge going indefinitely. I'll never finish all the books I want to read! ;)

Literary Feline - I'm with you, I'm drawn to this war and have heard of so many good books, I can't wait to read some of them.

Anna - I agree..I could continue with this type of challenge but also think it will be good to read about other wars too...I really didn't pay attention in history class when I was in school. haha!
