Friday Smile - Gently Giants

I love big dogs, but I hold a special place in my heart for Saint Bernards. I thought this week I would show you why. These are photo's of myself and two of the Saints that my family had when I was young. We went for a long time with no dogs, then when I was in highschool we got another one, she was half St. Bernard and half newfoundland, I'll save her photo's for another Friday. I've since had a St. Bernard and I now have a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, you've seen Myla's photo's before but I'm sure she'll be shown again on a Friday. haha! I've tried to convince my husband that Saints are the way to go or a mastiff or a newfoundland. So far I haven't had any luck. He thinks Myla is big enough and doesn't want bigger. She's 100lbs, which is small to me but massive to everyone else.

My Mom always got mad at me for putting my face close to dogs, but I can't help it. I love to be near them and kissing on them. Thankfully all the dogs I've had have always been incredibly sweet and would never harm me. And..things never change. I'm constantly in Myla's face. She gets back at me by licking me, not so much fun.

The added bonus of these photo's you ask? You get to see me as a wee little thing with blond hair!

Meet Baroness. As you can see, she was fun to sit on. That's me, when I was 2 years old. Wasn't I cute?

Meet Kelsey. She is only 2 months old in this picture. Cute little me is 4 years old.

Kelsey is a bit older in this one, I know it was taken in 82 but not sure what month, she's not even 1 yr old yet. I'm demonstrating how best to teach your dog to be, um, gentle with kids? Yeah..sure..um..that's what I was doing.

This is Kelsey, myself and one of my sisters. Evidentaly I thought Kelsey was being a good girl by pinning my sister to the floor. Plus, check out my shoes. I had excellent taste in shoes even when I was 4! I had a pair of sneakers that looked almost just like that (same color too!) about 5 years ago.

This is Kelsey at 8 months old, I'm still 4. My isn't she big?

This is the last one, promise. I love this picture. I'm using Kelsey as a pillow and she seems perfectly content to let me do that. After seeing these photo's, can you blaim me for holding a special place in my heart for St. Bernards?

Love the pictures! I love all dogs, but have to admit to a fondness for small ones that I can pick up and hold in my lap.

So cute, I want a sheltie though. They are not so small but still big enough to wrestle with and they are great for kids! :)
