Friday Smile - What makes Kris tick?

In this latest edition of Friday Smile, I thought I would share a little of what makes me tick, what makes me happy and content. organization. yup, I said it. I love to be organized. When something isn't organized, it bothers me. I admit that not everything is organized in my house, I've been rather busy since Fall and things have gotten a bit messy. My scrap room is also very disorganized but that's mostly due to not knowing exactly how I want to organize it and knowing I'll have to move it in the near future.

However, I still think it's save to say that I love organization. I've been known to re-organize a closet for fun on the weekend. Sick right?

So today you get to see my closet, but just my side. You'll also notice another thing that makes me tick, shoes. I love shoes. I wear high-heals to work most days, and only wear the same pair of shoes once during the week. (I do the same with work pants. haha!).

So here's an overall view of the closet, you can see my shoes because they are straight in front. Does it look organized to you? Maybe, maybe not. How about this: for the most part, each shelf is dedicated to a specific shoe color (with some exceptions). The top shelf holds my silver strappy heels and a pair of nice flip-flops. The next shelf holds brown heels. The shelf below that holds brown shoes that aren't high-heels. Below that are the black shoes. Next up are the green shoes (You didn't realize a girl needed 3 pairs of green shoes did you?). Next up I have a a shelf dedicated to red and pink shoes. Following that one ae the blues. I have a pair of navy blue heels and then my only two pair of diesels. I loved diesels, then they got bought out and and I don't like the styles as much. One pair is light blue with off-white stitching and such, the other pair is mostly off-white with blue and red flower patterns. Below that are mix-matched shoes that don't have another color mate. On the floor are my running shoes (Nike of course). I don't have to label each box. I know which shelf is for which color and I know by looking at the box what shoe is inside.

Here's an over-all look at at my side of the closet (although Husband's pants are also hanging up on my side).

Here's a close-up of some of the shelves. The tubs at the bottom of the picture hold my socks. (side note..we don't have any dressers in our bedroom - we like having little furniture in there so it doesn't clutter the room). One tub holds white socks that are short in length, the other tub holds the white socks that are higher in length, the last one holds black and brown socks. Above that are my running/exercise pants. I have long pants on the left and shorts on the right. Note: I have two other shelves devoted to running clothes. You can see them a bit on the right. The top one holds winter running clothes (long shirts and jacket when not in use) and the shelf below that holds the tank tops. Ok, back to the middle. The next shelf up holds jeans and corduroys. The shelf above that holds my shorts and capri's. You can barely see the top shelf. The tub on the top shelf holds swimming suites and the box (haven't bought another tub yet) holds hosiery and slips that I don't wear often.

This shows how I organize my shirts. I do like to switch out my close for winter/summer. I do keep some of each out all year round, but not much. I keep one shelf for the clothes I can't wear to work and two for those that I can. I also organize each grouping by color. lol! Seriously, you have no idea how much faster it is to get ready in the morning by doing this.

So that's a little peak into what makes me tick. I hope you enjoyed it! If you did, let me know and I'll do some more "Friday Smiles - What makes Kris tick" in the future.

Oh, if only I had a closet big enough to be that organized! I'd love to get rid of some of my bedroom furniture, as we live in a cramped townhouse.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

You can come to my house and organize to your heart's content any weekend you're looking to have a little fun.

Kris...I like this post, as I am a bit obsessed with closet organization as well...LOL

I need to see my shoes though, so I could never leave them in the boxes :)

Anna - We've been lucky that we were able to get a house with a closet big enough to fit all our clothes and not require us to have dressers -otherwise I'm sure we would. we do have an Armour for the tv and my husband the two drawers in that for some of his clothes.

Bermudaonion - you have no idea how tempting that is! If only we lived closer.

Diane - yeah! another organizer. haha! I thought about going to clear boxes for the shoes..but I'm not at that point yet. I'm sure one day I might have enough that it would be needed. haha!

Man don't come to my apartment. LOL The closet is horrible. I have thrown away shoes that are old but the front hall closet is much more organized. lol Our closet is about half your size and we do have three dressers in our room. It all works, I guess.

Serena - I wasn't a fan of the closet system at first but now I really like it!

Lover of books - Every person is different when it comes to furniture. haha! At the old house I had an old dresser that I put in the closet for my socks and stuff, but it wouldn't fit in the closet in this house.
