Have you thanked a Veteran today?

Today is Veteran's day, if you haven't already please take the time to thank a veteran today.  For me, be thanking my Grandpa.  My Grandpa served in the Navy during WWII.  He was one of those who signed up soon after the Pearl Harbor bombing.

The picture below shows my great-Uncle (he served in the Air Force during WWII and was then career Air Force), my Grandma (Uncle Joe's sister), and my Grandpa (best friends with Joe and future husband of my Grandma).

what a great tribute...thanks for sharing and thanking a veteran today. I thanked my grandfather and uncle for their service in WWII and Vietnam, respectively, on the Savvy Verse & Wit today.

I was glad to read in the NYTIMES that communities are finally honoring their Vietnam vets.

Serena - I actually just read your blog post too. I did read that article, so glad some of the Vietnam vets are finally being thanked for their service. It's long overdue.

This is a great tribute to two wonderful men, Kris. Thanks for sharing! I made sure to call my dad and wish him a happy Veteran's Day. He was taking advantage of all the free meals that many of his local restaurants were offering. :-)

Thanks Literary Feline and Anna. I saw my Grandma yesterday and she thanked me for sending my Grandpa the email and remembering him and her brother(I felt it best to do that since he doesn't talk about the war..phone call might have been awkward). She said he really appreciate it and after he replied back to me and mentioned a pin that he received from the Navy..he went a treasure hunt to find it so he could show me next weekend when I'll be at their house. lol!
