I always enjoy looking back through the titles that I read throughout the year. Some I forget about even though I like them and others are still as fresh as the day I read them.
This seemed to be the year for some powerful YA reads for me:
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Speake and Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
I tend to put off reading chunksters but I read several that were great this past year:
A Discovery of Witches by Debeorah Harkness
The Passage by Justin Cronin
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
I have to mention the Millenium trilogy by Steig Larson. I put it off for awhile before finally caving in and I'm still surprised by how much I loved the character of Lizbeth. It's not uncommon for me to talk to people about this series and say she has quickly become one of my top literary characters. It's hard to explain why, I've figured out some of why I am infatuated with her but still don't think I fully understand it. Let me also say that for me to say a character is one of my favorites is a big thing. Rarely does a character stand out that I would put them above others. Husband has asked me several times for a favorite book, favorite character, etc and I can never answer that. Now, I can easily say that Lisbeth makes the list and is probably #1 at this point.
I hope you all had a wonderful reading year in 2011 and read some fantastic reads. Here's hoping that 2012 brings even more favorites.

I haven't read the books, but we went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I can totally understand why you love Lisbeth. She is smart and determined and doesn't take crap from anyone.

Bermudaonion - You are so right about Lisbeth, she might not be the best in social situations but she is one heck of a person/character.
I really liked Lisbeth too. She's such a strong woman even with what all she's been through. She didn't play the victim like she could have given all she'd been through, you know?
Anyway, the books you mention are all good ones--either ones I want to read or have loved myself. I hope to get to a couple of them myself this year if I can swing it. We'll see!

Literary Feline - You are so right about Lisbeth! I keep thinking about her character, I think I might work on a whole blog post just on her. haha! She's just so interesting.
