Ophelia is a librarian in a small town in Iowa. One day a man, Rick, comes to town and says he is a chemical salesman, but he sure does ask a lot of questions. Ophelia doesn't want him learning too much about her past, he might uncover the truth that Abby, Ophelia's grandmother, is a witch and that Ophelia has some of the powers also (although Ophelia refuses to learn about them or use them). There have been some strange things going on in the town, first somebody keeps stealing a chemical that is used in Meth production, and then the town newspaper is broken into. Rick seems to be involved somehow. Abby says Rick and Ophelia are in danger and this is one that that Ophelia can't run away from.
I really enjoyed this book. I like Ophelia and Abby, as well as Darcie. I can't wait to read more in the series.
