The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen

Wow - what a great book! This is the first in the series as well as the first book I have read by Tess Gerritsen.

I have been indulging myself in cozy mysteries and romantic suspense novels - so this was a change for me. This book is more gruesome than what I have been reading recently.

The Surgeon, that is what the reporters nicknamed the serial killer and what the police call him. He doesn't leave any evidence, they have no idea who he is. All they know is that he is tied to Catherine Cordell, she survived a serial killer 2 years ago, with almost identical crime scenes.

Here's what part of the back of the book says:

Now, this killer is re-creating, with chilling accuracy, the details of Cordell's own ordeal. With every new murder he seems to be taunting her, cutting ever closer, from her hospital to her home. Her only comfort comes from Thomas Moore, the detective assigned to the case. But even Moore cannot protect Cordell from a brilliant hunter who somehow understands - and savors - the secret fears of every women he kills...

I liked that there was a bit of romance in it - between Cordell and Moore (although not much), I liked Rizzoli - the only female detective working this crime. She is taunted by the other, male, cops and feels the need to work twice as hard as any of them to prove she is worth it. I liked Moore, he knows what he is doing. Ok - overall I just liked everyone. lol!

It sounds like a good book. I may have to get around to reading it eventually. :)

I have read Harvest by Tess Gerritsen and absolutely loved it. Eventually I will read more books by her--I have several already in my TBR room. Thanks for the review!
