This is the first in the ghost hunter series by Victoria Laurie.
M.J. Holliday is able to talk to those who haven't crossed over yet or ghosts as we usually call them. She used to work as a medium but now she's a ghostbuster. Her long time friend Gilley is her business partner, he does research on the clients and takes care of the business while she takes care of the ghosts. Things get complicated when Dr. Steven Sable Jr. enters the picture. His grandfather died and everyone says it was a suicide but he doesn't believe it and now his grandfathers home/hunting lodge seems to be haunted. He asks M.J. and Gilley to help him only he wants to be involved in the process, something M.J. won't let him do. However Gilley convinces her to take the job since the Dr. is rich and could bring in more business if he spreads the word to his rich friends. The other issue...Sable is a very cute and seems to like M.J. - but she doesn't want to mix business with pleasure. Things get iffy though when they realize the house is haunted by 2 ghosts and one of the isn't very nice. They also soon realize that somebody is out to get them...and Steven's father, an evil man, might be behind it.
I loved this book - what a great way to start of a new series. Thanks to Barbara who was kind enough to mail me the book after she read it. This author is one of my favorites - I love her other series too. I thought M.J. was funny and instantly liked her. I also liked Gilley and Steven. OH...and let's not forget her parriot, Doc. haha - I loved all the stuff he said. I also love the cover art for this book - the picture of the ghost(or whatever it is)on her little purse is so cute. lol!

It sounds really good! I'll have to check it out eventually. :)
This one sounds good! I've added it to my wish list. Thanks for the great review!
Victoria came to my library a few years back - when her Abby Cooper mysteries were starting to really take off - and she is a remarkable person. She was just starting on this new series at the time, and I can't wait to read it myself! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
