Dead Connection by Alafair Burke

A young women is found murdered in NY and evidence was left behind connecting her to FirstDate.com - an on-line dating website. This murder is soon connected to another murder that also relates to firstdate. Detective Flan McIllroy and Ellie Hatcher team up to find the killer. Ellie Hatcher is not a homicide detective but Flan asks for her to partner this case with him because of her past, her father was a cop who tracked down a serial killer. They soon connect these two murders to another murder that happened before the others. Their investigation takes them to Ed Becker, a retired cop. Flan knows Becker is dirty but can't prove it. They also know that the Russian Mob is somehow involved. Then...another lady from firstdate is murdered. Will the detectives be able to solve the case before more women are murdered?

I really enjoyed this story. Towards the end I didn't want to put the book down because I wanted to know how it would end. I thought the twists and turns were really good. In my opinion the book was left open for another - to make it a series - but I have no idea if that will be the case. The back of the book says it is a stand alone. I really liked Hatcher though and would love to see her in more books.

I loved this one but blogger is not letting me put titles to my blogs. Go figure. :)

I just read of review of this book somewhere else and you both virtually said the same thing. That's great! :) I think I'm adding it on the TBR list. Thanks!
