This is the first in the YA series.
It is about 4 girls who have been friends since they were born. They are all about 15 yrs old and this is the first summer they will be spending apart. Then one of them happens to buy a pair of jeans that somehow fits all of them and makes them look great. This is strange because as you can imagine, all 4 have very different body types. They decide to share the jeans for the summer. Each one will get it for about a week or 2 and then pass it on to the next one.
Carmen - goes to S. Carolina to spend the summer with her Dad, she is really looking forward to it until he tells her he is getting married and already lives with his new family. Her Dad seems to spend more time with his future wife and her kids than he does with Carmen.
Bridget/Bee - goes to a soccer summer camp where she meets Eric, one of the coach's, he isn't that much older than her and very cute, she decides she wants him, she does everything she can to get his attention
Lena - goes to Greece to spend the summer with her grandparents, there she meets Kostos but pushes him away, things turn around and when it is almost too late she realizes she does like him
Tibby - unfortunately Tibby doesn't go anywhere, she stays home and gets a part-time job at a local store and there she meets Bailey. Bailey is younger and has cancer, Tibby doesn't want to be her friend but Bailey keeps showing up and the two become close friends
Overall - thought it was a cute YA book. Will I read more in the series? Probably not. I don't know if I have just read too many cutesy YA books lately or not...I did like this book...but for some reason I am not drawn to read the rest of the series. I did like the authors first adult book and would read more of her adult books. I could see myself reading the rest of this series if I was younger too.
I read this one for the banned book challenge. I don't know exactly why it is banned/challenged but guess it could be the issue of sex that does come up. It's like I mentioned in my review for The Earth, My Butt, and other Big Round Things...the girls are teenagers, sex is bound to be a topic and those reading this book are probably similar in age, so I don't see the big deal. But...who am I to say - I don't have a teenager daughter. haha!

This one was kind of nyeh, in my opinion. I liked it, but didn't feel like I had any interest in continuing to read the series, just like you.
When you get a chance watch the movie. I think the movie is better than the book and they changed some things (image that). I liked the movie more than I liked the book.
I have the next 2 in the series sitting here and I have to read them since they are part of my TBR challenge list.
I think I have to agree Heidi..I do like the movie better.
