This is the story of how Conrad Hirst decides he no longer wants to be a hired killer and how he tries to get out. He figures there are only 4 people who know about him, so he sets out to kill those 4 people. It's either that, or have them kill him. When he shows up at the first man's door, the man tells him he lied about everything, right before Conrad's bullet kills him.
Now, Conrad isn't sure exactly what is going on. He shows up at the next man's house to realize he has already skipped town. At the third man's house, he finds that man has already been killed yet there is a young women in the house who needs his help.
Conrad soon learns that it's possible he was really working for the CIA and not a crime boss like he originally thought.
Mixed into the story are glimpses of Conrad's past and how he became who he is and why he wants to get out.
I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interested, I wanted to figure out exactly who Conrad was working for and if he would make it out alive. The epilogue itself was a great part of the book. After reading this one I'll be looking at the authors other stories.
