Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

This is the story of Maggie and her father, Mo, and the terrible individuals Mo read OUT of a book. That's right...he was reading a book outloud and suddenly the characters appeared. For years Mo has been running away from Capricorn, the evil leader who is now in the real word. Capricorn wants Mo to read more of his servants and people out of the book and Mo doesn't want to.
Plus, when Mo read Capricorn out of the book, Mo's wife somehow ended up in the book and try as he might, he hasn't been able to read her back out.
Now Capricorn, with the help of Dustfinger, has captured Mo and wants him to read The Shadow out of the book. Also mixed into the story are some wonderful characters that I'm not going to mention here. haha!
This is a young adult book but I loved it! I also think it is just the sort of entertaining book young people need. It kept me interested and I can't wait to read the next in the series. I also listened to this as an audio book - I thought it was done very well.

I also loved this book, so glad you did too. At the movies this last weekend I saw a preview for the film version - I didn't realize they were making it. I'm excited to see their interpretation of the characters.
Now I just need to get a hand on Inkspell to read it also.
