Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris

This is the 2nd in the series. Harper Connelly and her brother Tolliver are in Memphis this time around. A college professor has asked them to visit the class and show what Harper can do. Due to a lightening strike when she was younger, Harper is able to tell you how a person died. There is a cemetery on the college grounds and the records have recently been found. There is no way she could get this info ahead of time. While Harper is telling the students how each of the deceased died. Then she comes across a grave where there are two bodies buried, one very recent. The recent one happens to be that of Tabitha Morgenstern, a young girl that Harper was asked to find not too long ago. How did the girls' remains end up in this cemetery and in this city? While the Morgensterns seem like a very close family, Harper believes somebody in the family did this. She wants the police to figure it out soon so she can go home for a bit before their next job. Let's mix into this story some cops who don't believe that what Harper can do is real, a psychic who seems a little –we'll say odd- and her grandson who wears leather and has more piercings than a person can count. Then we get Victor Morgenstern, the teenage kid who doesn't feel like he belongs and seems to know something that he doesn't want to tell anybody.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the perfect type of book to read in October. It has a ghost and a person who has a psychic ability. Well, it's not really a psychic ability but I'm not sure what else to call it. I really like Harper and her brother Tolliver. I like their relationship with each other and how they protect one another. I also just like the story itself. In fact, I have the third in the series and am looking forward to reading it.

Have you reviewed this book on your blog? If so let me know and I'll link it below.

I have reviewed this one. I like the premise, but unlike you the relationship between Harper and Tolliver creeps me out.

Here's my review:

I really like this series and I think Harper's ability is really neat. I'm still a little icked out about Tolliver and Harper's relationship though.

I wrote about Grave Surprise last year.

Kris -

I really enjoy the series and An Ice Cold Grave is pretty good. I must've read this one before I started my blog because I don't have a review of it. I do have one up for the next one, however.
