Booking Through Thursday - Worst Book You've Ever Read

How about, “What’s the worst ‘best’ book you’ve ever read — the one everyone says is so great, but you can’t figure out why?”

For me, it would be A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. In fact, I don't even count it as one I've read, I didn't finish it. I didn't even get half-way through it. I thought the kid was rather annoying to be honest. I just didn't get it at all.

I'm sorry this one didn't work for you - I'm one of those who loved it.

I SO agree with you on this one. Hated it. I thought that Owen was a whiny, snotty little twerp.

Bermudaonion - There are so many people that loved this one - I really wish I did, but couldn't get past the kid.

Lynne - haha! Glad to know I'm not alone.

I loved 'A Prayer For Owen Meany' but I know plenty of people who didn't share my feelings for it. That's why there are so many books. For me, it's 'Wuthering Heights'. I've read it a few times and I can't get past the fact that I despise Heathcliff and Catherine.
