Reading Slump anybody?

Is it just me in a reading slump or can some of you relate?  I don't know why but it's taking me so long to read books right now. I mean, we are half way through the month of September and I've only completed 2 books!  That's rather slow for me.  I have so many books I want to read, so what's my problem?

Sigh.  That bear is about how I feel.  I know I have a lot on my mind and a lot of stuff bothering me, but reading would relax me.  Yet, I can't seem to find the time to read or when I do, I get easily sidetracked.  I find myself watching stupid tv shows my husband has on instead of reading.  I find myself falling asleep after only a couple minutes of reading.  It's really frustrating me!

So what about you? Is anybody else in a reading slump?

How do you get out of a reading slump?  Do you read an author that you love? Do you read a thriller that is recommended by friends? Do you read a young adult or children's book that is on the smallish size?

I don't generally have reading slumps, but I say just relax and don't pressure yourself. You'll come back to reading soon enough.

Sometimes I think that when we participate in extreme reading, as most book bloggers do, our brain just needs a break. I say go with it, and read when you want to again. TV's not so bad. And sleeping is awesome!!

I am going through the same thing. Usually read at least 2 books a week and its taking me more than 2 weeks to read one. Have been trying to figure out why I am in a slump and/or how to get out of it. Frustrating.

Bermudaonion - reading slumps are pretty rare for me too! I think we're lucky in that regard. Yeah..I probably should just relax..but that's so hard. haha

Shelley - You might be right..I just need to give my mind a break and not stress about it.

I don't think I"m in a reading slump but I do wonder what is going on. I've been reading the same book for a week.

I think that it helps to reread a familiar book or an author I love when I get in a slump. Or something light and brainless.

CMash - reading slump must be going around like a bad cold, I keep hearing from more and more people that they are feeling a slump too. I wish there was something like vit. C to kick-start the reading again.

Wonderbunny - I think you might be right. I left my current read at work yesterday so when I got home I dug out a book by Victoria Laurie, one of my favorite authors, and I'm already 100 pages into it. Of course..I've been up since 4am..but still...can't believe I read that many pages already.

I spent most of last year and a good bit of this year in a reading slump but I've gotten out of it lately. Now I'm in a bit of a reviewing slump lol.

Ladytink - so glad you are back to reading better! Although...now you are in a different kind of slump altogether. lol! I think we can all relate to that one though.
