Cozy Mystery Challenge!

I've decided to make September - Cozy Mystery Month!
(I can do that right? sure I can!!)

The goal/challenge - try to dedicate September to cozy mysteries.
I know many of you are probably wondering why I'm devoting a month to cozy mysteries.
That's simple! They are my favorite type of book but I have so many interests that I haven't been reading as many cozy's as I would like. So...I decided to set a month aside and see how many I could read. I'm really looking forward to it.

I know several people have other challenges going on...I do to and I'm going to try and read ahead on mine to make up for it. haha! I know I'll probably have to read a couple non-cozy books that month, but I'm going to really try not to.

Anybody else interested?

I think it would be fun to create a list of the cozy books you are going to try and read that month..although you don't have to stick with it. I'm looking forward to seeing what others are gong to read!

I'm going to try to use Mr. Linky to keep track of this...never done it before so it might take me a little bit to get it to work. So please enter your name and your blog url (if you have one)if the space below to sign up!

Exciting news!!!! I talked with Shirley Damsgaard when she was in town for a book signing and I mentioned the cozy mystery challenge and guess what? She offered to give away one of her books! Exciting!!!! So once the challenge is over, I will have poeple report in on how they did and I will then randomly have a person selected. This person gets to select which one of Shirley's books they would like to receive (by then there will be 5 published in this series) and Shirley will send it to the winner herself! So hurry up and join!

More exciting news! Author Roberta Isleib contacted me and offered her book, Deadly Advice, for a contest give away as well!

Cozies are also my favorite books to read. I am really looking forward to devoting a whole month to just reading them

Not that I *need* a reason to read more (especially cozies) - but this sounds like fun

Count me in. I love cozy mysteries. My blog is even named "Cozy Reader"!!
I look forward to this!

Am I the only one who doesn't know what you mean by a "cozy" mystery? I read mysteries by the dozens each year, but I am not sure what qualifies them as cozy.

Joan,
You aren't alone in wondering exactly what a cozy mystery is. I hope this website will help:
Cozy-Mystery.Com

basically it is a mystery that doesn't show all the details of the murder, the person who solvs the murder usually doesn't have any professional training. There are a ton of cozy's out there...feel free to view my list and lists that other's who joined have posted - that might help too.

I, too, love cozy mysteries; I just don't read them as often as I like. This will be a great chance to catch up!! Thanks!

This shouldn't be too hard, since cozy mysteries make up the majority of what I read these days anyway! I don't have specific titles handy, but I want to continue from whatever point I am in the following cozy series:
Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles; JoAnna Carl's Chocoholics series (I think there's one out I haven't read yet); Mary Daheim's Alpine series; and I want to read Roberta Isleib's first in a new series.

Getting close to start time!! Whoo-hoo!!! Have my stack of cozies.
Very cool of Shirly Damsgaard to offer up her books for prizes and for Roberta Isleib to do the same. I have read Deadly Advice and highly recommend it. I have Shirly's books on shopping list.

I love hearing about other rabid readers of mysteries, cozy or otherwise. Have never kept a close track of books I have read or the number of pages, etc. but I love writing about most of the ones I read.

You might be interested on some of my cozy reviews on www.bookbirddog.blogspot and also my reviews at www.newmysteryreader.com
