Ghost of a Chance by Yasmine Galenorn

This is the first in the Chinz ' n China mystery series. Emrald O'Brien owns the local china shop, she can also see ghosts. She is awakened one evening to see the ghost of a local author, Susan Mitchell, at her bedside. Susan is trying to tell her that she was murdered by her husband. Em feels it is her responsibility to help Susan's ghost. Em gets help from some of her friends in trying to solve the murder, which the police believe was just an accident. A dangerous entity also appears though and now Em is stuck trying to get rid of him before her hurts everyone close to her.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I do plan on reading the second in the series. It took me awhile to like Em, the main charactor. I'm still not sure exactly how I feel about her, I don't like her as much as I like the main charactor's in other books - but I do still like her. I really enjoyed some of the secondary charactors though.

What is it that annoyed you about the main character?

I've been trying to figure that out. I'm not sure if it is the way she seemed to discuss her abilities to see ghosts with strangers (which is just different from other books I read - where they don't discuss it until they know the person), or if it was just her "personality" that bothered me. haha! I know - I'm not much help. I just can't seem to really put a finger on it.
