Dead Men Don't Lye by Tim Myers

This is the first in a new cozy mystery series for me, this is also a new author for me. There is one thing about this series that is different than most of the cozy's I read, the author is male and the main charactor is male. I wasn't sure how well I would like this, just because I'm so used to reading cozy's written by females with the main charactors being female. Let me just say that I really enjoyed this book and will be reading the rest of this series as well as trying his other series.

Ben Perkins is the oldest of 6 children. The family runs a store called Where There's Soap (which I kept wanting to call Where's The Soap? haha!) Anyway, one day when Ben gets to the store he finds the dead body of one of their suppliers on their back steps. This also happens to be a man that is dating one of Ben's sisters. The local law enforcement belives Louisa, Ben's sister, is a main suspect. Ben's Mother and all his siblings ask him to look into the murder and clear the family name.

I really enjoyed Ben, I liked his sense of humar and the way he dealt with everyone. The family was a lot of fun - I can't wait to read more about them. I also enjoy some of the other charactors in the book - such as Molly, Ben's friend and a cop, and Kelly, Ben's girlfriend.

pg 192 - "....but I'm reading a mystery I can't wait to get to the end of. I picked it up at Dying to Read the other day; it's about a candle shop. Pretty cool stuff."
haha! One of the reasons I thought this was funny is that the author has another cozy mystery series that revolves around a candle shop. I wonder how many other readers noticed this.

You convinced me to give this series a try. STOP! I just made up my mind, "No more mystery series until I finish up some of the other ones I'm into." No harm in sneaking onto 'the list' for later, is there?
