I had the chance to go to a book signing for Shirley Damsgaard. I felt kinda bad because while I was there nobody else showed up, but at the same time it was really nice because she talked to Chris(husband) and I for about 45min or so. I don't think I have ever actually talked to an author before so this was great. She mentioned that she has a new contract to write book #6 & #7 for the Abby and Ophelia series. I'm excited! Shirley was wonderful and very friendly, I am so glad that I was able to meet her. I like that she included Chris and talked to him too...even though he isn't a reader and probably had no idea who she was before I dragged him to the book signing. haha! Oh..and just to clarify...I'm holding the book and Shirley is in the nice suit.
The other thing that shows you what a wonderful author she is and how she cares about her fans...she offered to give away one of her books for my cozy mystery challenge. I'm so excited! So if you haven't signed up for that challenge already...you need to do that and you'll get a chance to win one of her books. Click here to get more info on the challenge.

You look simply marvelous, Kris.
So how did you manage to drag Chris to a book signing?
wow... signed from 'witch book queen' herself...;~) and talking for 45mins..!! most be great experience.
good for you..
Thanks Bookfool - such kind words.
Heidi,
I have no idea. haha! We went after work and then out to dinner - so maybe it was the promise of dinner. :)
That is a great picture. I hope she is willing to give away the first one in the series. lol
Dear Kris,
I'm a friend of Shirley's and I dropped her off at Main Street Books in St. Charles(because I'm local). I just want you to know that Shirley was delighted to meet you and talked about how much fun you were when I saw her the next day.
Fans like you make it all worthwhile. Shirley signed books all over St. Louis and spoke to our local group of mystery writers and fans, Sisters in Crime. (Kris, you should join!) They were long days. But after she met you, she was re-energized.
I don't think fans realize that YOU are why we keep writing. It's the kind comments that keep all us authors going through thick and thin, bad reviews, long hours and UGH re-writes. (Speaking of which, I've gone on too long...must go hit the work-in-progress again.)

What a terrific experience! I am so glad you were able to meet her--and then to have her undivided attention with no need to rush. I probably would have been tripping all over myself, making my husband do all the talking. Haha
