Waiting to Surface by Emily Listfield

Sarah and her husband Todd have decided to separate. He is an alcoholic and refuses to get help. They have a 6 year old girl, Eliza who is caught up in the middle of this. Todd goes to Florida to help a friend. One day while at work, Sarah receives a call from the Florida police, Todd is missing. He was actually staying with an old girlfriend and she waited several days before calling his disappearance into the police.
This is the story of how Sarah must deal with his disappearance. She works as an editor for a magazine and there are a lot of changes going on at work. She must deal with that as well as not knowing if her husband is dead or disappeared on purpose. She also has to deal with her daughter and how she is reacting to her father's disappearance.
Soon Sarah must cope with the reality that Todd is probably dead and wont' come back. She must get on with her life.
I admit, this book took me a long time to really get into it. I picked it up several times only to put it back down. It wasn't until I got to about 200 pages that I was actually interested in it. I don't know if I just couldn't relate to the characters or what. I did end up becoming interested and wanting to know what was going to happen and how it all would turn out. I know another person who has read this book and they loved it. We usually like the same books too, so I'm not sure why I had such a problem with it. I recommend reading other reviews on this one and then deciding if you want to try it. There wasn't anything bad about it, I just can't put my finger on why it didn't catch my interest right away.
