The Truth (I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything) by Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein

This book is mostly geared towards girls who are around 10 - give or take a year or two and their mothers. I'm not either one, but thought the book was cute.

It's written in diary format. It's a girls thoughts for the day. She mentions how in love she is with a boy and her Mom just doesn't get it. She mentions how she gets upset when she can hear her parents fight and how she just wants them to be nice and not call each other names. She mentions how she wishes her Mom would answer her questions and be truthful about stuff. She also talks about some of the stuff going on with friends and others who aren't her friends.

I thought this book was pretty good. I think it would be good for girls the same age or close in age with the girl in this book because they would understand that they aren't alone. I also think it would be good for the Mother's because it would remind them what it was like at that age and also let them know what girls that age are looking for. Even though this is a quick read and is funny at times, I also think that it could actually help strengthen the bond between a Mother and daughter. This is definitely one I will be keeping on my shelves and if I have a girl, I'll be making sure they read it. haha!

Thanks for the great review Kris. I loved both this book and the women's version. They remind me what I was like back then and how much more confident I used to be. Now, if I can just tap into that young girl again, the world better watch out. LOL!

Dear Kris, Thanks so much for the review on my new book. I wrote the book to help the bonds of communication and to help girls hold on their innate wisdom and capacity for fun and even mystery and I also wrote it for Moms to get to know their kids better but also to tap back into what makes them so special, unique and wonderful. We all need to reconnect to the vital energy that keeps the world fresh. I'm glad you are keeping the book on your shelf! All my best, Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist and Happiness Coach
