Friday Smile - Haunted Houses are just the thing..for this 32 year old

This past Wednesday 4 co-workers and myself went to a local Haunted House, er, Haunted caverns is more like it.   It's been years since I went to a haunted house, sometime in High school was the last time for me.  I don't like to watch horror films, I get nightmares.  So why would I want to go to a haunted house and pay to be scared?  Who knows, moment of weekness I suppose.

I actually picked the location we went to, We went to The Lemp Brewery Haunted House. I picked it because it's supposed to be haunted, for real.   Nothing like knowing that bit of info to make me even more scared to go.

I don't know if any of you watch Ghost Hunters, I rarely do even though I love paranormal stuff.  However last month they did an episode at The Lemp Mansion here in St. Louis.  It's suppose to be one of the most haunted places in America.  The Lemp family owned a brewery (IE The Lemp Brewery) and were fairly well off.  The only problem is that they kept committing suicides in the house.  One guy even killed his dog before taking his own life.  I suppose this didn't make them any happier though because they are said to haunt the house. and the brewery.

The area of the city that the house and brewery were located in has underground caverns/caves.  The brewery was built over some of these and they store beer and other things in the caves.  It's even been said that the family held parties in these caves.

Overall I have to say that it was a lot of fun.  There was a lot of giggling and some screams.  I was in the back of the pack, how that happened I have no idea. So I didn't get all the people jumping out at me, but they kept following me and that was freaking me out.  Especially when they would bang something on a beer barrel or the wall, that got my heart jumping.  I think the worsts were the places where it was pitch dark and you couldn't see anything, not even the person in front of you.

Next year, I might try to convince my husband to do the Lemp experience where you actually get an infrared camera and get to go around the mansion on your own ghost tour.

I don't do Haunted Houses anymore. The last time I did, I tried staying at the back like that and something still jumped out at me.

Kris, this sounds like an awesome time. We try to get to Salem, MA around Halloween every now and then --you should see the sights, and the Witches Museum, Dungeons etc are so much fun to frequent.

Bermudaonion - haha! I'm not sure why I decided to do one after not going for over 10 years, but it was fun. The only guy in the group was first, and he said he could see people notice him..then notice a bunch of girls behind him so they would wait till they could jump out at the girls. lol

Bibliophile - I bet that would be so much fun! Would love to visit during this time.
